Daryl TechnoSavage Seldon People are making it a racial issue by trying to take up for the cop. If this was a white teen girl and a white cop, anyone would be able to see this cop acted unprofessionally and preposterously by viciously attacking a small female. He was probably having a steroid rage.
Also, if the cop were a large black male and the female child was black, it would be clear the cop should be fired and brought up on charges. If one didn't see race, one would see that one does not punish a mouthy student by inflicting brutal physical trauma. If there were extenuating circumstances, for example, if the student was clearly attacking another student, this would be justified but as far as we can see, she was just sitting in her desk. If any of us, regardless of race, did that, we would be in jail where this criminal should be.
One more thought experiment, what if this was a large black male cop and a small white female child? How many people would be taking up for the cop?

Daryl TechnoSavage Seldon If the preliminary reports out are correct, this guy has already been sued for attacking a uniformed soldier then beating his wife over a complaint he was playing his music too loud. He was currently being sued for accusing a student of gang activity. He was a discipline problem in the past, and here he goes again, brutalizing people, jacked up on steroids most likely. There is no telling how many people he has victimized. He was a bad cop and he got away with it for a long time. Thank goodness he was defeated by a mere child with a camera, despite having the child arrested for videotaping the beating. I'm glad she was released unharmed. She needs protection from this maniac. People like this don't change, he will be back in the news soon for attacking someone else.
Daryl TechnoSavage Seldon This girl has family and friends. What if that was your child? Nobody's child is perfect.
Some black people have internalized racist black stereotypes so much and are so intent on saying "i'm not like that and my children are perfect" they are actually promoting the brutalization of other black Americans.
People are so afraid of looking 'ghetto' that they look ghetto. Most of my white and upper class friends take one look at the video and go 'put that cop in prison, case closed'. What is going on in the mind of some of my conservative black friends? They are so full of racist and conservative rhetoric, they are promoting, making excuses for the brutal beating of a female child by a huge steroid freak who is supposed to be protecting her! This is preposterous. And if you make excuses for this guy, don't say it's not about race, because it is about race, TO YOU, otherwise you wouldn't demonizing the child and making excuses for this piece of crap of a cop, making other cops look bad.
You remember parents used to call the cops to give their kids a lesson about stealing or hitting? Would one do that now? One's kid might not survive the lesson.
This guy had previous offenses and I suspect he got school duty as a demotion for sucking as a cop. It is not class to promote violence, this man is a 'brute', those who promote brutality are brutes, they are ghetto.
No Charges Against South Carolina Cop Who Fatally Shot Teen Zachary Hammond
Both of these instances occurred in the state of South Carolina. The brutal beating of a black female and the execution of an unarmed white male. The cops got off who murdered the white male and there was little news coverage. Think maybe there's a pattern here? Maybe South Carolina has a bit of a police brutality and cover-up problem.
I teach elementary students. I once taught high school. Are you serious? I would have protected that child with my life. I have broken up fights between big football players without slamming a child to the ground. i happen to be walking the walk right now, it just so happens, not because I'm terribly principled.
A cop come do that in my class to one of my students, are you serious? Their ain't no way in hell I woulda let him get away with that. That's how I feel, of course I don't know what I would do in reality, but it inflames me. My kids have stalled leaving the class. Nobody fixing to beat and fondle them, then jump on top of a teenage female child. I would have his ass and anybody that supports him. This man slammed the child while she was still in her desk by grabbing her bosom and neck, then tossed her out of the desk toward the wall, then jumped on top of her. It looked like it was going to be a beating and rape by someone who is versed at doing such things to women.
If one think that's alright because 'she mouthed off', one needs to do some soul searching to figure out why one is full of hate and/or self-hate and brutality.

Daryl TechnoSavage Seldon The issues here are bad cops and bad kids right? Thing is, the cop is the one who should surely have known better, the kid is a kid and is in the learning process. If the kid needs etiquette classes, something I have suggested at work, then the cop needs hella etiquette training, law training so he knows what he is doing is illegal, self-control training, de-escalation training, drug testing immediately after violent incidences, and training even in proper law enforcement procedure. 'Beat and grope' is not anywhere in the cop training manual. He's far worse than the kid; he ain't fina teach her no etiquette. He don't know none. He's a piece of crap for an example of how to behave. Yet people are ready to demonize the child, that's lunacy.
He traumatized that child and everyone watching. Who can feel safe after that? These children have learned you will be brutalized injustly and no one will come to your aid. If you do the right thing and report it, like the child who videotaped did, you will be arrested and charged, as she was.
She's very brave. She blew the whistle on police corruption and civil rights violations and was arrested for it, so where are her accolades? She was arrested and harrassed by law enforcement for doing the right thing. She is a hero, but instead people are congratulating a rabid cop and saying this has nothing to do with race. It has everything to do with race, to the ones supporting this rabid cop. Everyone has to analyze your gut reaction and find out where this comes from. Anyone should have been outraged, regardless of race, religion, or creed. Kids mouth off. Pretty much all teenagers do, and they are sometimes rebellious, just about all of them. Your teenager will mouth off at times, will sometimes refuse a command. This cop used deadly force on this child and he put his hands all over her body while she was seated and not touching him or anyone else.
All of us are conditioned to think in biased terms, we have to all fight hard to learn not to let our stereotypes and biases cause us to damage others.
I appreciate all the things law enforcement does for us. I'm certain that most cops are good, better than good really, because they put their lives on the line. There's no need however, to support the bad ones, it's not a groups deal.
I have personally been helped by cops numerous times. I have rarely been hurt by cops, and when hurt, not physically. Cops have put their lives on the line to save mine. I'm unspeakably thankful and grateful. The only thing that compares is soldiers, doctors, and firefighters to the close, acute, and fast life-saving services cops provide, and for those of us not in military situations, cops are sometimes the only ones who have come and directly saved our lives from a dangerous situation.
It's unfortunate when a bad cop muddies our minds about how much we appreciate our cops. However, if we can all learn to call it like it is, we can more quickly bring our minds back to a more accurate view. What we should be thinking, and is accurate, is: "Fields is a bad, crooked, violent psychopath who is a cop. Most cops are not like that and I love and appreciate the cops who put their lives on the line for me and my family, keeping us safe." The sooner we can identify and label the aberration, the sooner we come back to the more accurate view. But as soon as the lie is born of fear, of a need to protect those who are associated with the label 'cop', the need to see race in everything or the need to try not to see race blinds us, and we begin to side with this rabid animal of a cop to protect our own self-image, as a cop, as a non-violent black person, as a teacher, as a male or female, then we are no longer looking at the real situation, but an inaccurate image in our minds. We may side with an abusive psychopath in an attempt to manage our self-image. It's a trap. This rabid cop will let you down. He will continue to pop up in the news, like George Zimmerman for attacking others, attacking his own girlfriend and her father, attacking a stranger on the road. Like OJ Simpson, right back in prison, because this is how psychopaths are. If you support them, they will prove you the fool. We have learned our lesson about this. OJ Simpson let us down if you supported him, never again would we be fooled. George Zimmerman let us down, gets off innocent, but can't seem to stop pointing his gun at people, mostly white people. Former Officer Fields will let you down, don't fall for the charm of the psychopath, and don't let our police offices become full of them due to practices which reward and protect them.
My final word on this, most likely. Heart goes out to the victims. Commendations to the brave young child who was arrested for exposing the truth.

You are telling the truth. Good read :)
ReplyDeleteI encourage everyone to read this article.
ReplyDeleteI have to say, that in both cases the behaviour of the police /security officers is unacceptable. No matter what color of skin you carry, if you are rich or poor no one behaving like this, should be allowed in a profession that is supposed to protect you from harm.
For nearly all jobs that deal with children, the elderly or any other public services sector you are required a criminal background check, and rightly so. How can someone with a record of offenses remain in place to continue unlawful behaviour?
Where was the teacher or supervisor of the student that gave cheek?
Daryl is right, if you are holding a position where you are responsible, for example like him as a teacher, you are protecting who is in your care. And this should apply for everyone really who has any bit of common sense, again regardless of your race, upbringing or income.
Bringing our children up to be a happy and successful person in their families and communities is a shared and important responsibility. It starts at home and continues with their education and training for jobs etc. All of it is important and interacts with each other.
This certainly does not guarantee that some will end up on the wrong side of the law, but every effort is worth to ensure that it doesn't happen in the first place.
As a parent of currently three teenagers, who sometimes can really be challenging, I am still believing that love and education is the key to success.
My sincere condolences to the family of the young man who lost his life.
